We have more than 100 regular members involved in the events every semester. Our mailing list covers over 650 students, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and mentors.
President: Tingtao Zhou is a third year PhD student in Department of Physics at MIT. Before that, he finished his undergraduate study in School of Physics, Peking University, China and got his bachelor degree in the summer of 2012. Currently he is working on transport phenomena in porous materials.
Treasurer: Xuejun Huang is a third year PhD student at Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from School of Physics, Peking University, China in 2012. Currently he is working on corrosion of low carbon pipeline steel.
Board Advisor: Zhibiao is a 5th year PhD Candidate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT working on Drilling-oil ocean riser. Before that, he graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in March, 2007 with a master degree and got his bachelor degree at Harbin Engineering University in June 2003 in Shipping building and Ocean Engineering. He served as president of Ventureships Club in 2013.
Member: Vipender is a fellow in the departments of Bioengineering and Chemistry at MIT, where I work on development of novel drug discovery platforms by integrating diverse technologies to design and produce next generation of powerful anticancer, antiviral and antibacterial drugs.
Member: Mahender Dewal is a Research Fellow in the Department of Chemistry at MIT. I have graduated with Ph. D. in Chemistry from University of South Carolina, Columbia.
Member: Izunna Okonkwo is an aspiring Civil Engineer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also majoring in Management at the Sloan school of Management. He is diligent and a hard working student who is always looking for ways to add to the community. His long-term plan involves returning to his home country, Nigeria, to help improve upon the deplorable conditions.
Member: Sarine Shahmirian is originally from Los Angeles, California and is a senior at MIT studying Course 7 Biology. She ultimately hopes to go to graduate/professional school and start a career in the biotech industry. She is interested in entrepreneurship and hopes to start her own company one day. In addition to her involvement in the MIT Ventureships Club, she serves as an Executive Board Member in the MIT Biology Undergraduate Students Association, and she is the Editor-in-Chief of the MIT Undergraduate Research Journal. She is also a member of the MIT Ballroom Dance Team, competing at regional ballroom dance competitions each semester.
Member: Wei Sun is a 4th year PhD student in MIT Department of Physics working on a cosmic ray experiment on the International Space Station. Meanwhile, I also work as a tech co-founder in a Swiss based startup aiming at providing secure online communications. Prior to MIT, I got a bachelor degree in nuclear and particle physics from University of Science and Technology of China.
Member: Hui Zhang is working on vortex induced vibration of drilling risers and vortex induced motion of Truss Spar in Oil & Gas industry. She moved to Boston in Sep.2013. Before that, she got her PhD degree in Ocean Engineering and bachelor degree in International Shipping from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. She specializes in data analysis and art design and is very interested in entrepreneurship. She is eager to learn more about entrepreneurship via VentureShips club and contribute the community of MIT.
